Brasstown Blacksmiths win awards for their work

The husband and wife team of Lynda Metcalfe and Elmer Roush were given awards in the Hand Forged Railings and Gates categories of the Top Job Competition of 2009. The competition is sponsored by the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association. The works are really something to behold.

Plans are under way to restore a historic Blacksmith Shop in Wellesbourne, UK

The restoration plan was voted on by over half a million people for a BBC television special. The Wheelwright and Blacksmith shop will take around one million Pounds to restore. Volunteers have already cleaned and cataloged over 5,000 tools and items found at the shop.

Tennessee Technology Center in Shelbyville Offerying Blacksmithing Classes

Blacksmithing Classes offered at the Gilman Historic Ranch & Wagon Museum in Banning, California

The Gilman Historic Ranch & Wagon Museum started offering classes in Blacksmithing recently. Classes are held on the first and second Saturday of each month. Alex Bashta, a member of the California Blacksmith's Association is teaching the classes.

Great Barrington Waldorf High School students get a chance to blacksmith

The Berkshire Eagle is reporting that their local Waldorf school has been running a successful blacksmithing class as part of their art curriculum. The class is in its eighth year, and is run by John F. Graney, a local blacksmith.
